Fall Midwest Planting
Fall Midwest Planting is an ideal time to plant a variety of plants. During this time, the weather cools above ground while the soil is still warm below turf level. During the Winter, roots are still active and can be getting established into the soil. In fact, it might be easier on some trees and plants once their leaves are gone to get acclimated properly. There is less pressure to devote resources to keeping the plant, tree, or shrub alive (above surface level). During the late Fall and Winter time, effort is dedicated to growing roots. This process will promote hardier plants in the Spring with proper watering.
We generally get more moisture in the Fall, cutting down the demands for the homeowner having to manually water.
With Fall planting, you can also add a splash of vibrant color to your landscaping, as well as gaining a great start for Spring growth.
Example of some fall planting are Garden Mums.
