Our Story

Kevin Jensen never dreamed that when he asked Angie Hundley to partner with him in 2012, they would co-own such a rewarding business with amazing employees. At that time, in 2012, Kevin owned a turf business and was ready to take on a challenge by purchasing a local landscape and retail business in Lansing, Kansas. He needed someone with a business mind to match his energy while he combined the two businesses, and after six months of convincing Angie, she jumped on board. In 2016, while at their weekly business lunch, the two partners drew out the name and design on a napkin when they made the decision to launch the two businesses under one name. Months later, they found a six-acre property in Basehor with a flowing creek and that is when they knew the new location was meant to be the home of Oak Creek.

Prior to Oak Creek’s launch in 2017, Kevin Jensen, President and Co-owner, moved to Shawnee, Kansas at the age of 17, from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where he learned about turf and tree management. He started his own turf business in 2000, as the sole employee, and within his first year he gained over 300 turf customers. Kevin previously has served on the Lansing Tree Board, previously volunteered at the Lansing School District as well as spoke to various gardening clubs in the surrounding communities. When Kevin is not busy at the Nursery, he enjoys Crossfit and traveling.

Before officially partnering with Kevin, Angie Hundley, VP of Operations and Co-Owner, earned an Associate’s Degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College in General Studies and has a Business Administration Degree with a minor in Marketing from Baker University. In October 2020, Angie published her memoir on Amazon, “A Recipe for Bad Lemons: Ingredients for Success From Life’s Sour Moments,” where she captures her time overcoming the foster care system along with other life challenges. In her free time, Angie enjoys volunteering for local foster care organizations, exercising, spending time with her husband and children and soaking up a beach.

Oak Creek Nursery and Landscape has many options to make your yard stand out from our turf management program, landscaping design, hardscapes, plantings and more! We offer bulk items such as mulch, decorative rock and construction aggregates. Each Spring, the nursery comes alive with various plants, trees and shrubs and beautiful hanging baskets, while Winter becomes a Wonderland in November when our fresh-cut Christmas trees arriving shortly before Santa and Mrs. Claus make their debut.

In 2024, Magnolia View at Oak Creek was launched after many years of planning. This beautiful venue is the perfect spot for all private events such as small birthday parties, graduation parties, weddings, and large corporate events.
